Bethan Jenkins is running her very first marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025 in Manchester. Covering 26.2 miles running through the city. Bethan is running in memory of a dear friend, Ian Smith.

Ian, who you may know was a wonderful man, who loved life, and lived it to the full. Ian was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in early 2019, and after undergoing treatment had the all clear the following year. In June 2023, Ian's cancer returned, and he underwent many surgeries and treatments. Ian faced his cancer journey the way he faced life, with a positive attitude, never letting it get in the way, even though it was at times extremely hard, he did it with a smile. Sadly, Ian passed away on the 19th of October 2024, and for this reason, Bethan will be running in memory of Ian.

Cancer Aid Merthyr Tydfil, a local charity based in Dowlais, provided Ian and his wife Ann with practical and emotional support, and complementary therapies. The centre helped Ian through his illness, and knowing the person Ian was, he would be delighted the charity will benefit from your donations.
