We're taking part in Challenge 79 in aid of Spoons Neonatal Family Support charity by... planking for as long as we can for 79 consecutive days, beginning on November 30th!

Last summer our son Alistair surprised us all by arriving nearly three months early at 28+3 weeks, weighing just 2lb 7ounces.

We spent 64 days in neonatal intensive care (NICU) with Alistair, which was incredibly challenging and not something we could have prepared for.

As well as incredible support from friends and family, we received support from Spoons Charity. Spoons gave us someone to chat to in hospital on difficult days, tiny clothes our son could wear when he was big enough and welcoming baby groups we could attend when he came home.

When you have a premature baby or a NICU experience it can be so hard to relate to other parents but Spoons and the amazing volunteers we met just 'got' it.

Spoons offer vital support for families in Greater Manchester who experience the complex world of NICU. From trauma counselling to community groups, the team offers a real lifeline to families. With fantastic advice and information, and close connections with hospitals, they are also working hard to spread awareness about what families might need before, during and after NICU.
