Story
In March 2026, I’ll be taking on the Reading Mini Marathon to raise money for BIBS – a charity that means a lot to me and my family.
I was born in 2016 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, much earlier than expected at just 34 weeks. My mum had to be rushed into hospital with appendicitis, and when I was born I wasn’t breathing properly. After the doctors helped me start breathing, I was taken straight to the Buscot Ward, where I was cared for because my lungs were immature and I had sepsis.
It was a really scary time for my family, but the amazing neonatal team looked after me and helped me grow stronger.
BIBS supports the Buscot Ward and families like mine during some of the hardest moments of their lives. They help fund vital equipment and provide comfort and support to parents sitting beside their babies in incubators.
I’m now nine years old, and love swimming and running, and I’m so excited to be taking part in the mini-marathon alongside my mum who is running the half marathon, to help raise money for BIBS.
Any donation, big or small, will help BIBS continue supporting babies and families when they need it most.
Thank you so much for supporting me 💜
