Hi I’m Beth, I’m a 2nd year Psychology student at Lincoln university and this summer I am participating in a 6 day trek in Peru to support the Meningitis Research Foundation who are working to defeat the disease by 2030. I’m hoping to raise £4330 so any donations would be greatly appreciated!!

Your kind donation would go towards the work of Meningitis Research Foundation, who are fighting to defeat meningitis and septicaemia by 2030. After babies and toddlers, students are the second most at risk group of developing meningitis. As a student myself, this is why Meningitis Research Foundation appealed to me as a particularly worthy cause. The money that you donate to this incredible cause will be spent on conducting research into prevention detection and treatment of the disease, raising awareness of meningitis and its symptoms, and providing support for those who have been affected by the disease.

The trek starts in Mollepata going to Soraypampa. On the 2nd day I will ascend to Languana Humantay and trek to S alakantaypampa. For the 3rd day of the trek, I will be trekking towards Abra Salkantay and then Collpapamapa. Day 4 will invovle trekking down to the Santa Teresa Valley. Day 5 involves through Llactapata and the Aobamba Valley on the way to Aguas Calientes. Lastly, on day 6 I will trek up the steps to Machu Picchu before descending to Aguas Calientes completing my trek. Altogether I will trek approximately 81km/50 miles.
