Story
Earlier this year, my close friend and housemate from University, Maddy, was diagnosed with two brain tumours.
We lived together throughout university, from early morning coffees and late night study sessions to the everyday routines that quietly become some of your most treasured memories.
This is such a reminder of how suddenly life can change, and how something like this doesn’t feel distant or abstract when it happens to someone who was simply living life alongside you.
Maddy has undergone major surgery and is now bravely fighting through chemotherapy. She has only recently been discharged from hospital as she had to go back to deal with complications arising from her chemotherapy treatment. Watching someone you love go through something like this, particularly who was so active, full of laughter and bubbly puts everything into perspective. Maddy has shown incredible strength and resilience, and I wanted to do something positive to stand beside her during this time.
I’m hosting a Pilates event, “Move for Maddy”, to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. The sessions will be at 2pm and 3pm on the 28th of March in the Reforma Ripley Studios, and it'd be great if everyone can wear pink, Maddy's favourite colour🎀🩷. Booking can be made here: https://reformastudios.co.uk/book. Brain tumours are one of the biggest cancer killers of young people and yet receive far less funding than many other cancers. Every donation will help fund vital research and bring us closer to better treatments and outcomes.
If you’re able to donate or share, it would mean the world. Thank you for supporting Brain Tumour Research and for helping us stand with Maddy 🤍xx
