Story
In 2018 I visited Rwanda and I have never forgotten the happiness and kindness of the people I met and the feeling of peace in the country despite the poverty and legacy of the genocide.
As I’m finishing my time at Solent University, I am so excited to combine my love for football and for Rwanda by volunteering with a charity called Equip.
I will be the Lead UK Coordinator for Victory Football Academy, which will be the second football enterprise of this charity in Rwanda. Working alongside the Equip office in Kigali, I will work to make sure the academy identifies and nurtures talent in young people from vulnerable backgrounds in Rwanda, who otherwise lack the funds and opportunity to access sporting activities. Victory Football Academy will launch in September of 2023. Most importantly we will share with them the gospel of Jesus.
My first fundraiser to raise vital funds, which will enable us to launch the football academy, will be to run a 5k every day in June! Every penny will make a difference and will go directly to helping us achieve our goals of establishing Victory Football Academy for young people in Rwanda. Any support will make a huge impact!
Equip is a UK Christian registered charity and a Rwandan NGO which works to promote opportunity and excellence in Rwandan young people through youth activities, education, and healthcare provision, encouraging God-given potential and equipping them with skills to create and shape their own destiny and future.
Using the love of football as an international language, my goal is that Victory Football Academy will break down barriers, develop skilled and competitive footballers and bring glory to God.
Thank you for your support and updates to come!!
