Story
I will be running the Big Half in London on the 1st September to raise money for Pepper’s – A Safe Place (a mental health charity based in Oakham). Thanks to a lot of training advice from my marathon-running Grandad, I am excited to run my first half marathon for such an important cause. Having reached out to my local GP for help with unmanageable social anxiety during University, I really wanted to raise money for a charity that is aiming to better the provision for immediate mental health support within the Rutland area.
Pepper’s mental health cafés provide a safe space for those who are looking for help combatting loneliness and improving their mental wellbeing. Just £45 is enough for them to provide a group therapeutic activity, whilst £300 covers the cost of training up a volunteer in Mental Health First Aid. .
I am running this half marathon for my friends and family, who taught me that the strongest thing you can do is ask for help, and for Pepper’s cafes, which work at providing that help in Rutland. Thanks in advance for your donations xx
