Story
So, a different kind of challenge for me! This summer I’m swapping my running trainers for my walking boots to take on the M&S Bank charity challenge with my colleagues.
We’ll be heading over to Spain to walk the final 70km of the famous Camino de Santiago trail this September in aid of Macmillan.
Not only is the trek a way to physically challenge myself, but a way for me to honour my Mum’s memory after losing her to a brain tumour 20 years ago this December.
A few weeks later, I’ll also be taking on my fourth World Major Marathon 🌟 in New York City and would love to carry the fundraising efforts though to this event too!
Cancer took over such a big part of my family’s life with my Mum receiving the diagnosis for her first brain tumour when I was just seven years old. Although her battle went on for ten long years, a successful course of radiotherapy meant she entered a spell of remission where she got to enjoy some of her happiest days on the back of my Dad’s motorbike travelling the country.
Having lived through the devastating effects of cancer, I know first hand how much of a lifeline Macmillan are to families like mine as they navigate the challenges of both living with cancer and undertaking treatment and losing someone to cancer.
I am aiming to raise £1000 for Macmillan with my employer match funding a further £500 on top.
Thank you for reading my story and for any donations you are able to make ❤️
