Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

My mom’s late husband, Ronnie, was a fit and healthy 68 year old with no underlying health conditions. At the end of March 2024, he had not been himself. He was diagnosed with myeloma which was a complete shock to us all.

He faced living with incurable cancer with such strength, determination, courage and dignity. However, he became very ill, very quickly. He died, sadly and suddenly, on Saturday 6th April.

Ronnie absolutely adored our mom. And she adored him. Together they were so happy. Tragically, he didn’t get to enjoy one day of retirement with my mom or do any of the future they had planned together. We all loved him and feel so lucky he was such a huge part of our lives. Life will never be the same without him. It is so cliche but the reality is life is short and so precious.

Ronnie never once complained in the face of all of this so the least I can do is put one foot in front of the other and raise some money for Myeloma UK and their work supporting patients, families and critical research into finding better treatments and perhaps one day to find a cure.

To honour Ronnie’s memory, I am running Edinburgh Marathon on 25th May, Scottish Half Marathon 17th August, and AJ Bell Great Scottish Run 5th October 2025 and to fundraise as much as I can for Myeloma UK.

I’d love to see you in the crowd at any of the events and it would be easier to spot you in a Myeloma UK orange top that you can buy on the Myeloma webpage.

For more information on Myeloma UK and to see how your money can make a difference please their webpage.

It will bring our family some comfort to know that the money raised will help to improve the lives of people affected by myeloma and fund research that will improve diagnoses, treatment and care of people living with myeloma.

To add some 'fun' into my fundraising, if you help me reach 100% of my target, I will play tattoo roulette with whatever you all suggest on the comments section when donating, so feel free to leave your suggestion, and I’ll get inked at the end of these three challenges in October.

The small print… donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you so much in advance. I know money is tight just now but and donation, no matter how big or small, is greatly and gratefully appreciated.

With love,

Beth
