Story
In November 2021, my Grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Over the last 4 years, she has woken up and lived every day with a smile on her face, and a gracious love in her heart.
A beautiful and caring woman, whose strength and perseverance through each day and challenge she has faced in life, inspires me to be the absolute best version that I can be - to make her proud. Grandma has always been a constant source of love, wisdom, and warmth to everyone. With an incredible way of making everyone feel special, always putting others first, and her kindness knows no bounds.
I have decided to run the Edinburgh Marathon in Grandma Beth’s honour, to raise money for an incredible charity and cause. As difficult as it may be for me to complete this challenge, it doesn’t even begin to scrape the surface of the difficult challenges my Grandma has lived with since the diagnosis, and continues to live with today, tomorrow and so on.
Every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.
Alzheimer’s Research UK are the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure. Your donation helps their scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.
If you do one kind thing today, please donate to this cause, in honour of a truly inspiring, strong and beautiful woman, my Grandma -
Elizabeth Ellen Wills 🧡
