Story
Running for Light Project Peterborough
This October, I’m taking on the challenge of running my first half marathon — 13.1 miles — to raise money for Light Project Peterborough
https://www.lightprojectpeterborough.org.uk/
I chose Light Project because I’ve seen the incredible difference they make in our local community. Homelessness isn’t simply about not having a home. Behind every person is a story, and often a whole series of circumstances that have led them to where they are.
Light Project Peterborough is there to offer something incredibly important: support, dignity, friendship and hope.
From providing food, clothing, showers and laundry facilities through The Garden House, to helping people access healthcare, find opportunities, build confidence and ultimately move towards a more positive future, their work goes far beyond simply providing immediate help.
And that’s why I wanted to do something to support them.
For me, half marathon will be a challenge as I have never done any run more than 10k.
But every difficult training run, every early morning and every mile on race day will feel much easier knowing that I’m doing it for people in our community who really need a helping hand.
If you can, please support my fundraising by making a donation. No amount is too small — every pound will help Light Project Peterborough continue the incredible work they do.
And if donating isn’t possible, sharing this post would be hugely appreciated.
I’ll keep you posted on the training… and hopefully, in October, I’ll be posting a photo from the finish line rather than crawling across it!
Thank you for supporting me — and, most importantly, Light Project Peterborough.
