Story
This year, Bettys Harrogate have chosen Hug on a Tray as their branch charity.
Hug on a Tray are a small local charity supporting cancer patients and their families at St James’s Hospital. The charity provides comfort and practical support during treatment by funding free TV access, refreshments, and goodie bags filled with essentials like socks, toiletries, and snacks. Their volunteers offer emotional uplift through personal visits, helping patients feel less isolated during long hospital stays. Hug on a Tray collaborates with the Friends of the Leeds Centre for Leukaemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma to manage donations, which are raised through community events, their Otley shop, and fundraising challenges. Funds raised help sustain their services, including the provision of patient entertainment, outpatient refreshments, and seasonal gifts such as Christmas care packages for those spending the Christmas in hospital.
