Beverley High is raising money for Peter Doody Foundation
In memory of Christopher Tween

Charity Quiz Night · 1 August 2025

Campaigning to stop the silence around Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy and to save lives.

Story

Christopher Tween died from SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) in August 2019, just before he was due to begin his studies toward a degree in Psychology at the University of Sussex. He was only 19 years old and his friends and family remain devasted by his loss.

The Christopher Tween charity Quiz night aims to raise funds for the Peter Doody Foundation to support their Stop SUDEP Silence campaign. This foundation was set up by another family in memory of their beloved son who also died from SUDEP aged 21.

Most people have never heard of SUDEP. The first time they hear the word is AFTER a loved one has died.

There are 21 epilepsy related deaths a week in the UK with over half of these potentially avoidable. This figure is likely to be significantly higher due to under reporting or inaccurately recorded cause of death.

The Peter Doody Foundation is committed to education and awareness, by disseminating comprehensive information about SUDEP to people living with epilepsy, their families, friends and carers and also healthcare professionals.

They advocate and support to empower people to instigate open and honest discussions about SUDEP with their clinicians.
