Cumberland AC’s 24 hour parkrun

Cumberland AC is raising money for Cockermouth Mountain Rescue Team

Cumberland AC’s 24 hour parkrun · 21 June 2025

Mountain Rescue Team responsible for rescuing people and animals from the Buttermere, Ennerdale, Lorton and Loweswater valley areas of the Lake District. A registered charity solely funded by donations and operated entirely by volunteers, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Story

To celebrate Workington parkrun’s 12th anniversary on 21st June, starting at 9am, a group of runners will complete the 5k parkrun route every 30 minutes until 8:30am Sunday morning. Anyone is welcome to join us running throughout the day or night.

We will also be holding a cake sale after the normal 9am parkrun at the Cricket Club.

All proceeds from the sale and run will go to our chosen charity of the year, Cockermouth Mountain Rescue. Our members spend many happy hours in the fells, and whilst we hope we never need to call out the volunteers of the mountain rescue team, we’re very grateful that they give up their time to be there if we do. Our 24 hour parkrun recognises the fact that the mountain rescue team are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
