Friday Media Group Foundation is a registered charity and the official fundraising arm of digital media company Friday Media Group. Our first major continuous project is FMG Project, which aims to support and empower vulnerable and disadvantaged young people through fitness and mindset coaching.

Story

Why am I running 10k?

As a personal challenge, both physical and mental. If this is tough for me, just imagine being the young person in this testimony:

“My son was keen to join a gym but was extremely shy. He refused to go to the gym as school saying he felt intimidated. A friend told me about FMG Project and my son was initially keen to go.

However, when the trial date came he was clearly overwhelmed and demonstrated his high anxiety by shouting and swearing. We ignored his protests and drove him into town. He continued to complain but eventually went in with his Dad.

Finding it hard to speak and connect with others, we wondered if he would continue with the course. It is an absolute testament to the trainers at FMG that my son not only engaged and completed the course, but is now confident enough to go to the drop in and meet his friends there.

We can hardly believe the transformation in our scared, anxious boy. The course at FMG has changed his (and our) life, his confidence at home and at school has improved and he is clearly comfortable in his skin now. Thank you Sam and all at FMG – a great place, a life saver.”

What is the FMG Project?

FMG Project provides opportunities for young people in the Brighton area to learn, grow and achieve through fitness-based coaching programmes, in our state-of-the-art gym facility. FMG Project uses sport and exercise as our vehicle to create a positive impact!

Who needs this?

FMG Project gives access to coaching, education and facilities to those that might not otherwise have the opportunity.

How does it work?

Over the course of 10 weeks, the FMG Project coaches see remarkable changes in a young person's attitude, communication, motivation, teamwork resilience and, most of all, self-confidence. Once these programmes are over, they continue to support the young people through free gym sessions, learning opportunities, connections to other sports clubs and qualifications.

What does it cost?

With access to the highest quality physical, and motivational coaching, the 10-week course is free to the young person but costs the FMG Project £400 per person.
