Story
I’ll be running the London Landmarks Half Marathon for a charity that’s incredibly close to my heart.
In 2020, our beautiful daughter, Luna, was born eight weeks early, right in the middle of the Covid pandemic. It was a time filled with fear and overwhelming uncertainty. She was critically ill, suffering from multiple organ failure and two severe bleeds on her brain. There were moments when doctors told us Luna might not make it and we prepared to say our goodbyes.
With the pandemic in full force, we weren’t able to benefit directly from Bliss due to the restrictions in place. But Bliss was still a source of comfort. In those darkest days, when we didn’t know what tomorrow would bring, I turned to their website, reading stories of other remarkable premature babies and the journeys they had been on. Knowing that those families had support from Bliss gave me hope when I needed it most.
Against all odds, Luna made a full recovery. The resilience and strength these tiny preemies carry is out of this world.
Fast forward to today—Luna is thriving at school, full of life and energy. She loves dancing, singing, gymnastics, and drawing. And she’s the best big sister!! She’s an absolute superstar!
I’m running this race not just for Bliss, but also for Luna—to show her what she once showed me: that anything is possible and you should never give up. She fought the hardest battle and came out stronger than ever. I’m so proud to be her mum!
When you hear the statistic that 1 in 7 babies will need neonatal care, it really hits home when it touches not just your own family, but also your cousins, best friends, and others close to you.
Please consider donating to help Bliss continue their incredible work for babies born too soon, too small, or too sick. Every donation, big or small, makes a huge difference.
