Still Fighting to be Heard: An Ultra For Sarah

Bex Hetherington is raising money for Fighting to be Heard
In memory of Sarah

Ultra - 50km · 31 October 2026

Fighting to raise awareness and offering financial support and friendship for those living with incurable secondary breast cancer. The Fighting to be Heard Foundation functions with 100% volunteers; there are no paid employees, and the majority are Secondary Breast Cancer patients.

Story

On 26th July, my beautiful sister, Sarah Larner, passed away from Stage 4 breast cancer.

Losing her has left an unimaginable void in my life. Sarah was 41 years old, a devoted wife to Kris, an amazing mum to daughter Sophie, and the most incredible, beautiful, loving, annoying, intelligent, perfect big sister.

When Sarah was diagnosed with incurable cancer at the age of 34, she chose not to let it define her. Instead, she channeled her strength into making sure others facing the same diagnosis would never feel invisible. Sarah became a proud founding member of the Fighting to be Heard Foundation, a 100% volunteer-led charity dedicated to supporting secondary breast cancer patients and raising crucial awareness for breast cancer.

Sarah bravely used her voice, even taking to the stage at the charity's launch to share her story and ensure that women like her were finally seen, heard, and understood.

To honor Sarah’s legacy, I am running an ultra marathon on 31st October. Running an ultra requires grit, determination, and pushing past the limits of what feels possible. But the physical discomfort of this race is nothing compared to the absolute bravery Sarah showed every single day of her diagnosis.

I am raising vital funds for the Fighting to be Heard Foundation. Because the charity is run entirely by volunteers and patients, every single penny raised goes directly toward providing critical financial support, grants, and essential friendship communities to families navigating incurable breast cancer.

Sarah’s strength, her honesty, and her fierce determination touched everyone who knew or met her.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any donation, share, or word of support you can give. Every step of these ultra miles is for you Sarah.
