London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

The mission of Gene People is to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by genetic conditions through the provision of resources and support both directly to those affected, and to the hundreds of disorder-specific patient groups that have been established in the UK.

Story

Hey there, and thanks for visiting my JustGiving page!

I’m absolutely buzzing (and slightly terrified) to announce that I’ll be running the London Marathon on April 26, 2026—yes, you read that right, RUNNING a whole marathon! And I’m doing it to support an amazing charity: Gene People.

Now, if you know me, you’ll know that I am definitely not a runner. I’m more of a “lift weights and avoid cardio at all costs” kinda guy. But if you don’t know me—guess what? I’m basically Alex Yee. 🏃‍♀️💨

So why am I doing this?

To prove that even someone who breaks into a sweat just thinking about running can take on the ultimate endurance challenge (26.2 miles... send help).

To raise money for Gene People, who do phenomenal work supporting individuals and families living with genetic conditions.

Their support, resources, and advocacy make a real difference—and every single step I take will be in honour of those they help.

I’ve set a fundraising goal of £2,500, and every penny goes directly to Gene People through JustGiving. That means your donations are doing good immediately—and giving me extra motivation not to fake an injury halfway through training. 😉

Over the next 9 months, I’ll be trading in my comfy hoodies for high-vis gear, pounding the pavements through wind, rain, and darkness. Winter training will be brutal (pray for me), but I’m drawing inspiration from friends who’ve run marathons before and somehow survived to tell the tale!

I’ll be documenting the chaos—blistered feet, endless pasta, and maybe even a few tears—so stay tuned for the journey. 👟💥

If you feel moved, inspired, entertained, or just want to see if I actually survive this, please consider donating. No amount is too small—every little bit helps us get closer to the goal and supports a truly worthy cause.

Let’s do this. LET’S GOOOO!!!
