I’m running the Bob Graham Round to raise money for St John’s hospice.

As a family we recently lost our matriarch, a mum, a wife, a grandma a mother in law and so much more. Joanne passed away to cancer after a 2 year long battle. Showing bravery, kindness and endless love even in her darkest hours.

The nature of Joanne’s cancer meant we lost a big part of who she was in a short space of time.

The care that St John’s gave, revived Joanne to a state that we all remember her for. Defying the odds, we were able to continue creating beautiful memories in her last few weeks. Of which as a family, are eternally grateful.

The care, compassion and extraordinary presence that the nursing staff and volunteers provide will leave a mark on all of us. They really do all have a special place in our hearts.

Joanne was always supportive of my running (albeit worrying about ticks all the time), so with that in mind I’m going to fast track a goal i had set for in a few years time, to in a few months time.

The bob graham round is a right of passage to a lot of ultra runners, and is a formidable course. Approx 66 miles, 8000m ascent covering 42 peaks in the Lake District in under 24 hours.

This will be by far my greatest accolade with regards to running achievements and hopefully fundraisers. I want to make it extra special by running it with my family and all of the St John’s staff in my heart.
