Story
Pendleside Hospice is a pillar of palliative care, offering unwavering support to individuals, families, and carers dealing with the challenges of advancing long term and life limiting illnesses.
Thanks to the generous backing of our community, Pendleside can continue to enhance quality of life and promote independence for our service users and their families. Your contributions are crucial in helping us deliver the exceptional care and support that truly impacts the lives of those in Burnley and Pendle.
On Saturday 10th January 2026, two brave members of staff from Burnley High School — Mr Howarth (Deputy Headteacher) and Mr Roberts (Assistant Headteacher) — will be swapping leadership and lesson plans for lineouts as they take to the pitch for their first-ever rugby match!
They’ll be playing at Rossendale Rugby Club at 3pm all in aid of the incredible Pendleside Hospice, a charity that provides vital care and support to local families when they need it most.
Neither of them has ever played before… but what could possibly go wrong? (Quite a lot, if we’re honest.) Expect teamwork, tackles, and a lot of ice packs afterwards — all in the name of a brilliant cause.
We’d love your support — whether that’s coming along to cheer them on or making a donation to Pendleside Hospice through this page. Every penny raised goes directly towards helping a truly special local charity continue its amazing work.
Let’s get behind Team BHS and make sure every bruise, pulled muscle, and muddy shirt helps make a difference!
