I am Raising money to support the community projects at the Round Chapel Old school rooms in Clapton - a hub for the local community by running the Hackney Half.... my first half! YIKES!

The Round Chapel is a space in lower Clapton in London that is a hub for the local community, they hold space for the community to come and receive support, working hard to reduce social isolation and create a sense of community for all; projects include support for young families on low incomes, wellbeing for mums and people experiencing homelessness.

I first came in to contact with the round chapel during Covid 19 in 2020 where they engaged with local residents to support those who were unable to leave their homes due to them being particularly immunocompromised, ability not to do so without a carer or due to them being on low incomes or experiencing homelessness by tasking people with hand delivering care packages - I delivered a few of these packages and felt the effect that this act of kindness had to ease stress and anxiety and feel community - something that can be hard to come by in fast paced London.

As we all know - the cost of living crisis is getting ever worse, and effecting more and more people and families - a recent documentary that I watched on the crisis described how those who contacted citzens advice in 2023 had £15 left in their bank account to get them through the month after paying for their bills. Their most recent analysis says that the number that those contacting citizens advice have left in their bank account after bills is -72p. A very sad, frightful number in a country so great and wealthy. (Channel 4, Britain's Debt Emergency)
