Fire Fighters Charity provides care and support to the UK’s fire family. It helps with any health and wellbeing challenges firefighters, control staff, and everyone working in – or retired from – the UK’s fire services, as well as their families, may face - during and after service

Story

On May 15th, 2025, a large fire at Bicester Motion in Oxfordshire claimed the lives of firefighters Jennie Logan and Martyn Sadler, as well as member of the public David Chester. Jennie was a firefighter with Oxfordshire Fire & Rescue Service and Martyn was a Leading Firefighter/Sub Officer at London Fire Brigade, serving on retained duty at Bicester Fire Station.

We are fundraising in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity to recognise the heroic efforts of Jennie and Martyn. We also extend our support to their colleagues, including two who were hospitalised after being seriously injured in the incident.

We hope the money raised can help pay for the following:

- funeral costs, so Jennie and Martyn's families do not have that financial burden at what is already a terrible time

- treatment and support for injured colleagues

- counselling for the firefighters' families and friends, as well as colleagues in Bicester and across the country who have been affected by this horrific incident.

David Chester played a significant role on the estate, having run his business there for 12 years. The Chief Executive of Bicester Motion has described David as "part of the fabric of our estate and a friend to us all". In recognition of this, we would, if possible, like to extend similar support to David's family, friends and colleagues.

If any of the activities described above aren't possible from this fundraiser, the funds will instead be donated to the Fire Fighters Charity to use as they see fit. Their work includes supporting firefighters' mental and physical help, as well as supporting their families.

The Fire Fighters Charity is a registered charity in England and Wales (1093387), Scotland (SC040096) and Isle of Man (1363).
