Story
I'm pleased to announce that Biddulph Bikers will be on the road again this summer.
This year's cycling challenge sees us heading to Bonny Scotland.
We're keeping with our coast to coast tradition for our 3rd charity ride, starting from the most westerly point of mainland Scotland (Ardnamurchan lighthouse), heading across the highlands to the most Easterly point (Peterhead).
I'm pleased to have back on the team, Mark B. He was one of the original cyclists who complete the English C2C, and the chap who encouraged me to attempt our first C2C in 2019.
Together with my good friends Sandra and Laurence, the 4 of us will take the 9 hour car journey to our start point the day before. We will hopefully get a good night's sleep before an early start the next morning.
I say early start, my fellow cyclists have persuaded me to do this ride in 3 days, rather than the usual 4. Adding an extra 20 miles per day 🤔. I can't wait to find out what that feels like.
We couldn't do these challenges without our wonderful support team.... Sue and David.
Sue was a valuable part of the team when we cycled across Wales and has kindly volunteered again to support us on our Scottish adventure.
David Bailey is a family friend from Gillow Heath who will be supporting us for the first time this year.
Thank you both. We coudn't do this without you.
The charity we are fundraising for this year is 'mind'. Please read below why I have chosen mind as this year's charity.
I will keep you informed on Facebook how our plans are coming together and how training is going. I have a lot of hours in the saddle before July.
Why mind?
It was only recently that I learnt how my Uncle struggled for many years with his mental health.
I learnt how this affected his whole life and shaped the lives of his family and close friends.
Many of his most difficult years were while his family were still young, at a time when the public's understanding was not as it is today.
I hope my fundraising will help to support mind's campaigns to increase awareness, promote acceptance and ultimately get the help to those in need.
