Story

❤️ ST DAVID’S HOSPICE CARE – 20-MILE BANNAU BRYCHEINIOG CHALLENGE & FREE PRIZE DRAW ❤️

🏔️ SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER 2026 🏔️

On Saturday 3 October 2026, I’ll be joined by Adam Crocker and Gwilym O’Donovan as we take on a tough 20(ish)-mile(with a lot of elevation ⛰️) challenge through Bannau Brycheiniog , taking in 10 peaks and iconic locations along the route.

We’re doing this to raise money for St David’s Hospice Care, in loving memory of Jane Scott and Sian O’Donovan.

St David’s Hospice Care provides specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, as well as supporting their families and loved ones. It’s a cause that means a great deal to us, and we’re hoping to raise as much as possible through this challenge.

To make the day even more exciting, we’ve also put together a FREE PRIZE DRAW, with a fantastic selection of prizes kindly donated by local businesses and supporters.

🎟️ HOW TO ENTER

There are two ways to enter the free prize draw.

💷 PAID ENTRY

A £5 payment gives you 1 entry into the prize draw.

You can have a maximum of 10 entries per person.

For example:

* £5 = 1 entry

* £10 = 2 entries

* £20 = 4 entries

* £50 = maximum 10 entries

Paid entries are made through this official St David’s Hospice Care JustGiving fundraising page.

AFTER MAKING YOUR PAYMENT

Once you have made your payment, please keep your JustGiving confirmation/receipt.

To claim your prize-draw entries, please email: nickjscott@live.com

using the subject: ST DAVID’S DRAW

Please include:

* Your full name

* Your email address and/or telephone number

* The number of entries you are claiming

* Your JustGiving payment confirmation, receipt or payment reference

Your payment confirmation will be used to confirm the number of entries you are entitled to.

Please note: making a payment alone does not automatically allocate a physical prize-draw ticket. You must contact us using the details above so that your entry can be recorded and your numbered ticket(s) allocated.

⚠️ GIFT AID

Please do not claim Gift Aid on any donation made in connection with entering this prize draw.

Although donations to St David’s Hospice Care can normally qualify for Gift Aid, payments or donations made in connection with receiving prize draw entries are not eligible for Gift Aid under HMRC rules.

If you would like to make a separate donation to St David’s Hospice Care that is not connected to entering the prize draw, this may be eligible for Gift Aid, provided you meet the relevant HMRC requirements.

If you are unsure whether a donation qualifies for Gift Aid, please contact St David’s Hospice Care before making the donation.

📮 FREE POSTAL ENTRY

No payment is necessary to enter.

You can enter the prize draw completely free of charge by sending a postcard by ordinary First or Second Class post to:

NICK SCOTT – ST DAVID’S FREE PRIZE DRAW
178 DURHAM ROAD
NEWPORT
NP19 7HT

Your postcard must include:

* Your full name

* Your postal address

* Your email address and/or telephone number

* The words “ST DAVID’S FREE PRIZE DRAW”

* The number of entries you would like, from 1 to 10

You may request between 1 and 10 free entries.

Your postcard will be used to record your entry and allocate your numbered ticket(s).

Paid entries and free postal entries have exactly the same chance of winning.

The prize-draw process does not distinguish between paid and free entries.

🎟️ HOW THE TICKETS WORK

Every valid entry will be allocated its own numbered physical ticket.

For paid entries, your ticket number(s) will be allocated once your JustGiving payment has been confirmed and your entry details have been received by email.

For free postal entries, your ticket number(s) will be allocated from the information provided on your postcard.

All valid tickets — whether obtained through the paid entry route or the free postal route — will be included in the same physical draw.

Your ticket number(s) will be recorded against your entry details.

Please keep your JustGiving receipt/confirmation if you entered through the paid route.

The physical tickets will be kept securely and taken with us during the mountain challenge.

We will conduct 10 separate prize draws at 10 different locations during the challenge.

At each location, one winning ticket will be drawn at random for the prize allocated to that location.

Where practical, we will record and/or photograph the winning ticket and the draw so that there is a clear record of the results.

The winning ticket number, prize and mountain location will be recorded as part of the challenge.

⭐ IMPORTANT – EVERY TICKET REMAINS ELIGIBLE

Winning a prize does NOT remove any of your other tickets from the draw.

Every valid ticket remains eligible for every subsequent prize, regardless of whether the person who owns that ticket has already won.

For example:

If you have 10 valid entries and one of your tickets wins the first prize, your other 9 tickets remain in the draw and are still fully eligible to win any of the other prizes.

There is NO one-prize-per-person rule.

If two or more of your tickets are drawn during the challenge, you can therefore win more than one prize.

Each ticket is treated individually and remains eligible until it is drawn as a winning ticket.

🏆 THE PRIZES

We have some fantastic prizes that have been kindly donated by local businesses and supporters.

Further prizes may be added before the draw, so please keep an eye on this page for updates.

All prizes are subject to availability and any reasonable conditions specified by the relevant prize donor.

🏔️ THE 10 MOUNTAIN DRAWS

The idea is that the prize draw becomes part of the challenge itself.

As Adam, Gwilym and I make our way around the route, we will reach 10 different peaks or iconic locations.

At each location, we will stop and conduct one of the prize draws.

This means the winners will be selected out in the Brecon Beacons during the challenge, rather than conducting all ten draws at home.

We may have limited or no mobile phone signal in some areas of the mountains, so the physical draws will be carried out independently of an internet connection.

The winning ticket numbers will be recorded as soon as reasonably practical, and winners will be contacted afterwards using the details supplied with their entry.

Points at which tickets will be drawn will be posted in updates before the challenge date.

📅 DRAW DATE

The planned challenge and prize draws will take place on:

SATURDAY 3 OCTOBER 2026

The ten prize draws will take place during the mountain challenge at the relevant locations along the route.

Entries must be received before the prize draw closes. The closing point will be before the first prize draw takes place on 3 October 2026.

🌧️ WEATHER & SAFETY

The Brecon Beacons can experience difficult and unpredictable conditions, particularly in October.

Our priority will always be safety.

If exceptionally severe weather, dangerous conditions, illness, injury, access restrictions or another unforeseen circumstance means that the challenge cannot safely take place on 3 October, the hike and associated prize draws may need to be postponed.

If the challenge has to be postponed:

All valid entries will remain valid.

You will not need to enter again.

The revised date will be announced through the fundraising page and/or our social media updates as soon as reasonably practical. Instagram: @nickscott680

The same tickets will remain eligible for the rescheduled draws.

📬 WINNERS

Winning ticket numbers will be recorded at the time of each draw.

Winners will be contacted using the contact details supplied with their entry.

Please make sure that your name and contact details are accurate when entering so that we can contact you if you win.

If a winning entrant cannot reasonably be contacted or does not claim their prize within a reasonable period, an alternative winner may be drawn from the remaining eligible tickets.

Any alternative draw will follow the same prize-draw rules.

❤️ WHERE THE MONEY GOES

This fundraiser is being carried out in support of:

ST DAVID’S HOSPICE CARE

All money raised through the fundraising page will go to St David’s Hospice Care, subject to any applicable JustGiving processing arrangements.

The fundraiser is being held in loving memory of Jane Scott and Sian O’Donovan.

Every entry and every separate donation helps support an important local cause.

🎁 SEPARATE DONATIONS

If you would like to support St David’s Hospice Care but do not want to enter the prize draw, you are very welcome to make a separate donation through the fundraising page.

A separate charitable donation does not provide additional prize-draw entries.

Likewise, a payment made for a prize-draw entry is not treated as a Gift Aid donation.

* Free postal entry is available.

* Paid and free entries are treated equally.

* A maximum of 10 entries per person applies.

* Every valid ticket remains eligible for every prize until it is drawn as a winning ticket.
