Story
I'm cycling across two countries so that kids from inner cities can access nature - can you help me?
My calendar tells me that we're a month away from the start of my adventure of cycling across Wales and South West England. Yikes! Together with 17 Computershare colleagues, I'll be setting off from St David's in Wales on the "Tour de Farms", a multi stage 600km bike ride over five days.
Tour de Farms will raise money in support of Farms for City Children, a UK charity that exists to remove the barriers that prevent children and young people having meaningful access to the natural world. Your support will enable more 8–18 year olds from deprived areas of the UK to visit farms in Devon, Gloucester or Pembrokeshire, strengthening their connections to food, farming and nature.
The Cycle
The route is a gruelling 600km with over 10,000m of climbing starting at the rather lovely city of St David's (where I used to sing as a boy) and arriving in Okehampton quite tired 5 days later. This will be a test of physical endurance and mental resilience that will push me to my limits.
Many of you will know that I cycle for charity regularly and usually don't ask for donations from friends and family, but given the significance of this ride, I wanted to give you all the chance to contribute!
Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your support.
Lorraine "Loz" Colquhoun
A number of you have asked me who I am riding in memory of. Loz was my wonderful cousin who I grew up with. We lost Loz to breast cancer a few years ago, but she remains close to our hearts. Loz had an amazing career as a teacher in the South West challenging and developing the next generation. She believed passionately in giving all children access to nature and she would have loved this cause.
