Bike 2 My Roots - Cycling in Tandem

We connect, train and equip educational 'catalysts' to drive community-led change, through the creation and local management of 42 inclusive and sustainable education centres.

Story

From June - September, the EduSpots staff and volunteer team, are aiming to cycle collectively 10,000km (or as far as they can!) as Emmanuel Adjei cycles from 10,000km on a solo adventure from Munich to Accra.

This will include a cyclathon in Accra in late June, and a coastal bike ride in Brighton in August, alongside individual efforts. We will publish the dates so that you can also join!

Together, we are aiming to raise 100,000 euros to support EduSpots' work, including the 50 to 100 Spots expansion.

EduSpots connects, trains and equips local Catalysts to ignite fun, community-rooted and future-ready education through co-curricular clubs and leadership programmes in a network of 50 spaces named 'Spots'. Visit www.eduspots.org for more information!

If you would like to join the campaign or would like to sponsor Emmanuel or the team, please email Cat Davison at cdavison@eduspots.org

Who is Emmanuel Adjei?

“My name is Emmanuel Adjei, born in Accra, Ghana and I currently work as a sports scientist at my university’s hospital for sports medicine and sports cardiology in Munich.

Growing up in a sports-enthusiastic nation like Ghana, I excelled in athletics and became a proficient pole vaulter. My affinity for cycling began at age 12, riding my father’s bicycle without permission. However, my newfound hobby was short-lived due to the lack of cycling infrastructure in Ghana. With time, I rekindled my passion for cycling in Munich, Germany.

This cycling project is not solely about seeking the thrills of an adventure of a challenge. Inspired by the saying, “become the change you wish to see in the world,” I am driven to use cycling to mobilize funds, support, and raise awareness to ignite and sustain community-led change through education and empowerment in deprived Ghanaian

communities.' Follow his journey at @bike2myroots on Instagram

You can choose a part of Emmanuel’s route, and cycle alongside him remotely in these spin-off cycle rides:
