Bike for Brian - 32 County Cycle Challenge

Bike for Brian is raising money for Southern Area Hospice Services
In memory of Brian Magennis

32 County Cycle Challenge · 17 August 2025

Evora Hospice, formerly Southern Area Hospice Services, helps patients with life-limiting conditions live well from diagnosis to end-of-life, providing care tailored to each person's unique needs, wishes, and quality of life.

Story

In January of this year, we lost Brian Magennis to pancreatic cancer. It was an incredibly difficult time for our family, but throughout his final months, the team at the Southern Area Hospice became a beacon of hope and comfort. Their care went beyond anything we could have imagined. They treated Brian with kindness, dignity, and compassion, ensuring that not only he but all of us felt supported every step of the way.

The hospice quickly became a place Brian loved. He was surrounded by people who truly understood what he and our family were going through. Their warmth, respect, and unwavering support made an immeasurable difference during one of the hardest times of our lives.

Now, in honour of Brian’s memory, a group of 12 men, including Brian’s closest friends and family, will take on an extraordinary challenge this August. We will cycle through all 32 counties of Ireland, covering an incredible 1,200km with a total elevation higher than Mount Everest. Every pedal stroke will be a tribute to Brian and a way to raise funds for the hospice that cared for him with such love in his final months.

This journey is not just a physical challenge. It is an emotional one. With every mile, we will carry Brian’s memory with us. This ride is a tribute to the man he was; a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and a loyal friend who touched so many lives. Our goal is simple. We want to give back to the Southern Area Hospice so they can continue providing the same compassionate care to others facing similar battles.

Brian’s legacy lives on in all of us. This fundraiser is our way of expressing our deepest gratitude to the incredible people who made a painful time just a little bit easier. The hospice is more than a place. It is a community of care, strength, and compassion. We want to ensure that their work continues for every family who needs it.

We are incredibly proud of what we are about to undertake, and we hope this challenge will make a real difference. Thank you for your support, whether through donations, words of encouragement, or sharing our story. Together, we can help ensure that more families receive the same comfort and care that meant so much to ours.

Please support us on this journey. Your generosity will help bring comfort to those who need it most.
