A Munro for Munro, Ben Nevis Challenge, St Andrew's Hospice, Lanarkshire

Ben Nevis Challenge 2024 · 31 August 2024 to 1 September 2024 ·
My dad, Munro McMillan, was diagnosed with lung cancer in late 2021. With treatment he managed to live a normal life for 2 years but sadly it finally caught up with him around January 2024 and he had to spend a prolonged period in hospital. We were privileged enough to get a bed for him in St. Andrew's Hospice in Airdrie where he spent his last few days in as much comfort as was possible. The wonderful staff provided him with a high standard of care and dignity and treated our family with great kindness. From the minute I arrived at St. Andrew's I really wanted to do something to help them continue their fantastic work. My dad was a lovely man and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. A husband to my mum, Isabel, a father to myself and Karen, a papa to Nathaniel and Eva, a brother to Billy, father-in-law to Marjorie and Malcolm, and a friend to many, particularly those he worked with in Carstairs State Hospital for decades.
