Story
On 9th July, along with some friends, I am going to run a marathon starting and finishing at Winchester Cathedral!
Two years ago, I had a stem cell transplant to cure rare blood cancer. Thanks to excellent care I received I continue to recover and feel great! Anthony Nolan is a charity very close to my heart. Research to ensure more successful transplants is crucial, as well as funding the lab costs of maintaining the stem cell register.
I’m using this marathon to give back and raise funds for Anthony Nolan's life-saving work. It is also my own slightly mad way of celebrating how well I feel!
Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with blood cancer. For someone with blood cancer, a stem cell transplant could be their last chance of survival. Anthony Nolan matches incredible people willing to donate their stem cells, to people with blood cancer who are in desperate need of a lifesaving transplant. Exeter Marrow is a part of the network of lifesaving students who work with the Anthony Nolan. Marrow groups recruit one in four people who go on to donate stem cells, which means hundreds of lives are potentially saved by Marrow's incredible work.
I'd love for you to join me in running if you are up for it! It's an off-road route with stunning scenery, there's a halfway point at a pub where friends can jump in to run the second half or cheer us on with a pint!
Your support means everything to me, the research that Anthony Nolan funds helps to . Let's make every step count and help save lives together.
