Story
Thirteen years ago, my brother in law Ralf, who always lead a healthy lifestyle and enjoyed running and cycling with his teenage boys, had a stroke.
He was in a critical condition for many months and had many operations. My sister and the boys didn’t know if he would live and his whole family’s life was turned upside down.
He is still suffering greatly and has many health issues.
I asked him if I may raise funds for the Stroke Association in his name and told him about the biggest challenge I have ever taken on.
On Sunday at 6.35am I will compete in Outlaw 70.3 Triathlon at the National Watersports Centre, Holmepierre Pont in Nottingham.
It’s called a 70.3 because that’s the total number of miles the event consists of: swim 1.2 miles (1.9km), cycle 56 miles (90km) and then run a half marathon 13.1 miles ( 21km). I have 9 hours to complete this challenge.
I have competed in several triathlons before but never over this distance. The training started in November and it has been a big challenge physically and mentally.
