Story
On Friday 18th July, we’re running a 10K trail race to raise money for Birth Companions, a charity that supports women experiencing poverty, trauma and disadvantage during pregnancy, birth and early motherhood.
We recently heard about the stark inequalities in maternal health outcomes in the UK - especially among Black and minoritised women - and felt compelled to act. Birth Companions works directly with women affected by these injustices, offering practical and emotional support both in the community and in the prison system.
Their work is vital. No one should go through pregnancy or early motherhood without the care and dignity they deserve - yet thousands of women face exactly that, simply because of their circumstances.
We’re taking on this run as a small way to stand in solidarity with those mothers, and to raise awareness and funds for an organisation doing life-changing work.
If you’re able to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful - every pound will help Birth Companions continue to provide expert support and advocacy where it’s needed most.
Thank you,
Lucy & James
