Run Plymouth Half Marathon 2026 · 17 May 2026 ·

Our vision is that Plymouth is a city of opportunity where no child's life is dictated by poverty. Our mission is to facilitate high impact long lasting projects that break the cycle of multi generational poverty in Plymouth.

Story

We are delighted to be supporting PCiP as our charity of the year for 2025/26.

We have entered a team of 12 to take part in Run Plymouth, entering the half marathon and 10km distances.

The team is: Beth Carpenter, Kristian Davis, Freya Harris, Dominic Harry, Lewis Ireland, Freya Morris, Ed Poultney, Jenson Slade, Katie Venn, Ben Westall, Harry Widnell, and Laura Wills.

We are a mix of new runners and the more experienced and have all been training hard!

Promoting Children in Plymouth (PCiP) is a city-wide initiative committed to eradicating child poverty in Plymouth. Led by the Plymouth Drake Foundation and recognised by Plymouth City Council, PCiP unites businesses, public services, and charities to tackle the stark inequalities faced by many of the city’s children.

In some areas of Plymouth, child poverty levels exceed 35%. PCiP exists to change this—by offering not handouts, but hand-ups.

PCiP supports long-term, high-impact projects across five key areas:

- Widening Horizons – Raising aspirations through mentoring and workplace experiences.

- National Citizen Service – Funding places for disadvantaged young people to build life skills and confidence.

- Dental Health – Supporting better education and access to dental care for children.

- Grow, Share, Cook – Helping families prepare healthy meals, including during school holidays.

- Right to Read – Improving early reading skills to prevent children from falling behind before school even begins.
