Bjorn's fundraiser for Weston Hospicecare

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
In March 2019, we sadly lost our dear friend James Bale, known affectionately as Dex, following a diagnosis of a stage 4 brain tumor. The cancer was aggressive and untreatable, and Dex spent his final days receiving exceptional care at Weston Hospicecare. Their compassionate support provided immense comfort to him and his family during those incredibly tough weeks.
Very recently, Weston Hospicecare also provided outstanding care and compassion to Penny, a former colleague and dear friend, during her final days after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. Once again, the hospice team ensured comfort, dignity, and unwavering support not only to Penny but also to her friends and loved ones during such a difficult time.
In memory of Dex and Penny, and to continue raising vital funds, I am now taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon in 2025. Weston Hospicecare continues to offer invaluable emotional, psychological, spiritual, and medical support, helping people navigate one of the most challenging experiences imaginable. However, with just 20% of their funding coming from the NHS, they depend significantly on community support to raise the £5.5 million required annually to maintain their essential services.
Your generous support will help ensure others receive the same compassionate care that meant so much to Dex, Penny, and all their loved ones. Thank you so much for reading our story, and thank you sincerely for any donations, large or small. Every contribution makes a meaningful difference.
Thank you,
Bjorn
