Blackburn Road and Broughton House Surgeries fundraise for Kirkwood Hospice

Blackburn Road and Broughton House Surgeries is raising money for The Kirkwood (Kirkwood Hospice)

Leeds Abbey Dash 10k 2025 · 30 November 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

The Kirkwood exists to improve the quality of life for local people, against all odds. We help those in our care to live well and make the most of every single day. We make the complex simple by focusing on what's important, and we support families and loved ones to live on and live well.

Story

We know what an amazing and invaluable service Kirkwood hospice provides for our patients. Recently the hospice has had to make 19 staff redundant due to financial pressures and has reduced the number of inpatient beds from 16 to 12. This could have a significant impact on our patients. The hospice only receives 25% of its funding from the NHS with the rest coming from donations and that is why we want to help!

A team of 14 from Blackburn Road and Broughton House GP Surgeries including our GPs, nurses, secretaries and healthcare assistants are undertaking the Leeds Abbey Dash 10km on the 30th November 2025 to raise money for Kirkwood.

Many of us who have agreed to this are not runners! We have been training for the last few months and are hopeful to get round in one piece!

If you could spare anything towards this incredible cause, it would be so appreciated and would make such a difference. Thank you!

Your £10 donation could fund a virtual wellbeing session for a patient living with heart failure.

A donation of £50 could pay for specialist counselling support for a patient and their family.

£100 could provide vital support to a patient in their own home from one of The Kirkwood Nurses.

The Kirkwood are here to support anyone affected by a life limiting illness, every step of the way. Right now, over 3,000 people in Kirklees are living with an illness from which they will not recover. Your support means we’re here for them.
