Zaiya's first birthday fundraiser for Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation

Blackpool Zoo Official is raising money for Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation
Celebrating the birthday of Zaiya the Asian elephant at Blackpool Zoo

on 2 September 2026

We provide free veterinary care to sick and injured elephants in Southern Thailand via our purpose-built hospital and our mobile outreach service. Leading by example, we support and educate those whose lives are entwined with these beautiful animals, in order to protect and conserve their future.

Story

Time flies when you're watching an elephant calf grow up! On 2nd September 2026, Zaiya will turn one, marking a year since history was made at Blackpool Zoo with the first successful Asian elephant birth. Over this past year, she has grown and developed into the confident, playful and curious elephant she is today.

To mark the occasion, we're supporting one of our conservation partners, the Southern Thailand Elephant Foundation (STEF), by helping to raise funds for its vital work providing free veterinary care to elephants across southern Thailand.

From routine health checks and emergency treatment to collaborating with scientists across Asia to advance global knowledge of elephant care, and inspiring future conservationists through hands-on elephant care workshops, STEF's dedicated team works tirelessly to improve the welfare of elephants in need and ensure they receive the care they deserve.

As we celebrate Zaiya's first birthday, we kindly ask you to consider making a donation and leaving her a birthday message. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help support elephants in need and make a meaningful difference. Thank you for helping us celebrate this special day and for caring about elephant welfare.💚
