The Blandest Trek

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Our dad Michael Bland was a hero not just to us (his three kids) but to many. It took Parkinson's Disease, a broken hip and Covid to bring down the man who had been a soldier and champion athlete, as well as an accomplished consultant, speaker, author, healer...

We are none of those things, but we're damn well gonna bust ourselves in the windswept backcountry to commemorate our fallen hero.

That's right, buckle up, we're going on the Blandest Trek there is!

Michael Bland would have turned 80 in 2024 so we have charted an 80-km hike over remote, mountainous terrain, to arrive at Bland Hill, a remote Yorkshire village from where our family name supposedly derives.

WARNING! This will be BLAND!

Us Bland siblings, now all grown up, will tackle the route in 48 hours, walking the equivalent of two back-to-back marathons to get to our Bland destination. There will be Bland sweat, tears and bloody blisters, but we will Blandly push through it all.

Now, while we prepare to traipse across the moors, and share our story with the world, we leave you with just one Bland question:

Will you dig deep and donate so that we can get one step closer to making Parkinson's Disease a thing of history?
