Sue & Davids Walk from Winchester to Canterbury · 30 May 2023

We are the Parish Church in Hythe, St Johns & St Annes. We aim to draw closer to God corporately and individually, and unreservedly and unconditionally serve the neighbourhood, we are in.

Story

Sue (the angel lady) and David are going to walk from Winchester to Canterbury. Although its been 20 years since we walked the 500 miles to Santiago from the Spanish, French boarder.  This time it’s only going to be about 150 miles.  The first trip took 31 days and we’re hoping to complete the 2nd one in about 15 days, but we felt that now we’re over 80 perhaps we should try something a little easier.  We are also hoping, of course to raise some money, and this time we shall be asking for sponsorship for our Victorian era church, which is St John’s in Hythe, Hampshire, near Southampton.  We have so many projects that need completing so we can continue to serve the Parish of Hythe that the money will be reserved for projects not for the everyday running of the church.  We need a complete overhaul of the sound system (including the loop system for the hard of hearing) and lighting system (many of our lights now don’t work, so people can’t see properly). We have a leaking roof which needs mending and consequently the interior of the church needs re-plastering in some places and then repainting. Many of our parishioners support the running of the church but we feel that this is the best way we can play our part.  So please, please, please support us in helping our church to continue to support our community.
