Story
Bonjour!
So you may be doing a double take right now or checking it isn’t the 1st April, but nope, this isn’t a wind up I am actually running the hackney half marathon.
In doing so I’d like to hopefully raise a few quid for the Alzheimer’s Society. I’m doing this in memory of my Grandad Archie who sadly passed away last week. Although, due to the cruelty of dementia, it’s hard for us to recognise when we actually lost him. And the fact he was a barmy fruitcake to begin with, we were never really sure when the dementia kicked in truth be told.
My Grandad is my hero. I’m always proud when told I’m just like my Grandad, whether it’s his good habits or the bad. He’s the reason I draw and paint, he’s the reason I want to be friends with everyone and he’s the reason I like a pint or few. Which also means he’s probably the reason this run won’t be easy for me. I’ve been secretly training for a while and hey, this won’t be quick and it certainly won’t be pretty, but I’m going to do it.
If you can throw anything into the kitty, it would mean a lot. Alzheimer’s Society are a marvellous charity providing support and also funding important research.
