Babergh Chair's fundraising for Compassion

BMSDC Civic Office is raising money for Compassion
Compassion is a small charity based in Suffolk that has worked for 20 years to promote awareness and understanding about all aspects of domestic abuse, both nationally and locally. We work to develop and promote good practice to make domestic abuse legally, socially, morally and culturally unacceptable.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Each year the Chair of Babergh District Council has the opportunity to select a charity to support during their term of office – Cllr Elisabeth Malvisi has chosen Sudbury-based domestic abuse charity Compassion.

Cllr Malvisi said:

“I hope that I am able to help raise the profile of this charity, and to raise awareness that this is 2025 and we are still living with horrendous domestic abuse in our homes and in our communities.”

The charity runs programmes to support survivors of domestic abuse and provide outreach to schools to empower young people to engage in healthy relationships.

Louise Richardson, Compassion project coordinator said:

“Our thanks and gratitude to Cllr Malvisi for choosing us as her chosen charity helping to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the work we do to support residents who are affected by domestic abuse. We rely on donations and fundraising to help us to make a difference, enabling us to run our weekly coffee morning and recovery programmes. We are excited to work with Cllr Malvisi and look forward to the year ahead.”
