Story
This Ramadan, we — Yve Buckland, Jacynth Ivey, Chichi Abraham Igwe and Gillian McGrattan — Chair and Board members (the Board Belles) had the privilege of attending a fundraising dinner in support of the cancer appeal at Heartlands Hospital. — and it’s something that has stayed with us ever since.
Listening to the stories shared that evening was deeply moving. Cancer is something that touches so many lives, whether directly or through the people we love. Behind every diagnosis is a person facing uncertainty, fear, and immense challenges — with families doing their best to stay strong alongside them.
It made us reflect on how important compassion, care, and the right support can be during such a difficult time. Even the smallest improvements in a patient’s experience can mean so much when someone is going through one of the hardest journeys of their life.
As a team, we’ve made a pledge to raise money to support patient experience and provide vital equipment for the new cancer centre at Heartlands Hospital.
To help make this happen, the Board Belles Team will be taking on an abseil challenge to raise money. It’s a small act compared to what so many patients face, but one we’re committed to doing to support this important cause.
Every single penny raised will go towards supporting patients treated there every day, helping to make their journey just that little bit easier.
If you can, please consider donating. Your support — no matter how big or small — will truly make a difference.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
