Story
Having decided to take on the ride along the length of the Rhine from Sea to Source in May-23 I wanted to use this to flag up, and do something small to counter-act, the woeful lack of financial support being provided to our crucial mental health services in the UK.
I believe Mind do great work so have decided to support our local Monmouthshire division during this trip.
I will be riding at least 1400km (870 miles) off the ferry at Hook of Holland through 5 countries, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Liechtenstein, in and out of Switzerland several times, finishing high in the Swiss Alps.
The route follows one of the EuroVelo international cycle routes, EV15, consisting of mostly tarmac or gravel off road cycle paths along the banks of the Rhine, through a huge variety of terrain from Dutch lowlands, past part of Germany's industrial heartland, alongside the Canal du Rhone et Rhin (France) the impressive Rhine Falls, along Lake Constance and climbing up to the river's source, Oberalppass, at just over 2,000 m above sea level (6,500 feet), near Andermatt in Switzerland. My aim is to reach Oberalppass on Tuesday 23rd May after 9 days riding averaging 157 km (almost 100m miles) per day.
You should be able to checkout my Progress on Strava after each day's exertions from this page but I will endeavour to keep you update via my instagram page https://www.instagram.com/bobandhisbikes/ and on Facebook of course!
All donations will be most appreciated and Thank You for reading!
