Walk Your Ridgeway 2025 · 11 May 2025 ·
We are walking in memory of Bob, Dad, everyone's mate and all round legend, a super star, super hero and all round rockstar of the lawnmower trade. He was always an avid walker, taking us on walking holidays throughout our childhood and beyond, most memorable in Nepal, walking the foothills of the Himalaya's, an incredible place for a hike with 4 young kids! Dad loved it so much he went back without us to trek it proper! He set me off with the bug and I do an annual walk for charity, when this one popped up on my radar I just had to do it, which means I will be doing two marathons a month apart!
Dad was looked after at the hospice last year and sadly passed away in December. The hospice was an incredible place, one we never wanted to have to go to but when it came to it we couldn't be in better hands. Dad adored them all and in turn it's not surprising that they adored him too. The hospice got Dad to a place where he could go out for the day and enjoy celebrations for his and Mum's golden wedding anniversary, they arranged a double hospice bed so Mum & Dad could spend their anniversary weekend together. They also got him home so he could spend his final weeks at home, in his favourite place with his favourite people (& Dogs!). Without the incredible people and care of the hospice we wouldn't have had the treasured end we did for Dad. Please donate, and donate generously, they deserve so much more than most of us can ever give but lets give it a bloody good go!
The Hospice helps people to live their precious lives well. Their care has many forms – at home, in our outpatient Spring Centre or through specialised care in one of our Hospice beds - and is defined by each person's need. They rely on donations to raise the £6m they need each year to fund their free care. Your support is ever more important, as NHS funding covers less than 20% of their running costs.
