I am running my first ever 10k race on 7th December to raise money for Guhyaloka Retreat Centre, an amazing place where I spent 16 weeks on retreat during my Ordination Course in 2011.

A 10k run may sound fairly straightforward, but to put it into context I have been fairly sedentary for the past 10 years, and only starting running 4 months ago. I have never run this distance before. So running 10k felt like a very big ask a few weeks ago.

Guhyaloka has been the Triratna Buddhist Order's primary place for men's ordination since 1987. It is a sacred space, but to continue to thrive, it needs financial support to carry out urgent repairs and renovations. They are now entering the most critical phase of the project – building a new Kitchen/Dining block - and need to raise £300,000 before the end of 2026.

I have managed to keep up with my training and am looking forward to running my first ever 10k (and hopefully raising some much needed funds for Guhyaloka along the way!).
