Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I set myself on my Ironman Wales journey 11 months ago, entering this crazy endurance event the day entries opened last September. A dream for many years now, Ironman Wales drew me in as something I had no idea if I could complete. A full physical, mental and psychological challenge, not just for one day in Wales, but for 12 months of training, early mornings and self-discipline.
During the journey that I was on, our friend Claire devastatingly took her own life. As a serving police officer of many years, she had dedicated her life to helping others, whoever needed it, whenever they needed it. She leaves behind her 12 year old son, her partner, her family and many, many friends. Claire was a keen runner and exerciser across multiple sports and always had a crazy endurance challenge of her own ready to go. She shone brightly in all our lives, doing everything with enthusiasm, passion and a proper cackle of a laugh.
I would like to dedicate my challenge in Wales on the 21st of September to Claire’s memory and, as such, raise some money for a charity close to her heart - REORG.
Often, the work of the military and emergency services personnel can be traumatic, leaving people with both physical and psychological scars.
REORG aims to support the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of military and emergency services personnel, using Functional Fitness or Jiu Jitsu as a gateway to reignite their confidence, purpose and sense of camaraderie.
REORG gave Claire the opportunity to get into CrossFit which she loved and as a charity it has helped hundreds of people find a purpose through sport since setting up in 2020.
I am very grateful to you for reading my story and for any donations to REORG which we may receive in Claire’s memory. Thank you so much, Bonnie.
