ET Summer Read-A-Thon for bereaved families

Ruth N is raising money for Edward's Trust

Read-a-thon · 30 August 2025

Join us this summer to celebrate the power of stories and support bereaved families through our Edward’s Trust Summer Read-A-Thon. The challenge is simple: read 4 books throughout the month of August and make a huge difference!

Story

This August I am taking part in the Edward’s Trust Summer Read-A-Thon in support of bereaved families.

I am part of a book club and have found reading to be a great way to relieve stress and relax. Books can transport us to another place entirely or provided just the reassurance we need to get through the challenges life throws at us.

Instead of reading 4 books throughout the month of August, I am going to take a time approach and read for a total of 9hrs in one day/sitting in order to raise funds to help Edward’s Trust continue supporting bereaved parents, children and young people across the West Midlands.

9hrs as an average marathon running time is 4.5hr... and seeing as I will be sitting down thought I should double it 😆

Every year, Edward’s Trust supports around 700 families who are navigating the devastating impact of bereavement. It costs approximately £600,000 annually to fund the range of vital services we provide, from counselling and well-being therapies to support groups, all free of charge and with no time limits.

Without government funding, Edward’s Trust rely entirely on the generosity of supporters like me and you. Every donation you give directly helps bereaved families rebuild their lives and find hope for the future.

Thank you for your support!
