24 Peaks in 24 hours · 2 June 2023

We aim to never turn away a dog or cat in need of help, caring for them until their owners or loving new homes can be found, no matter how long it takes. We are champions for, and supporters of, vulnerable dogs and cats, determined to create lasting changes for animals in our society.

Story

Tom and Nick, with the aid of the boosst charity day, have decided to undertake the 24 peaks in 24 hours Lake District challenge in aid of the fantastic cause - Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

The standard challenge, described as “an extremely arduous and difficult 2 days” (involving 24 peaks over 2,400ft, c.35 miles and around 13,000ft in total ascent) is typically achieved if all 24 peaks are summited within 24 hours, split into 2 x 12 hour stints, over 2 days of hiking (with a rest for food and sleep at night), however due to hereby unknown reasons, Tom and Nick decided to up the ante even further, and will be attempting to do this challenge in one single 24 hour period, with no break!

This will require a mammoth physical, mental and logistical effort; battling wild and steep terrain, unknown weather, hunger, sleep deprivation and much more!

Any support by way of donations would be hugely appreciated and will go to help support Battersea Dogs and Cats home, who due to the impact of the pandemic and the cost of living crisis have seen a huge increase in animals being re-homed.

This attempt has been made possible thanks to the support of boosst, who provide every team member with an annual charity day to use to help the community and much deserved causes.

Other members volunteer at local food banks and to litter pick in their community.

Please rest assured, all costs involved in this challenge will be paid for by Tom and Nick and therefore Battersea will receive all donations.

The Charity - Battersea

Battersea will always be here for every dog and cat.

Battersea takes dogs and cats in, gives them the expert care they need and finds them new homes that are just right for them.

They help pet owners make informed choices, provide training advice, and campaign for changes in the law.

And they help other rescue centres and charities at home and abroad because they want to be here for every dog and cat, wherever they are, for as long as they need Battersea.
