UPDATE: I completed 53.53 miles in 35 hours. Thank you all so much for your support.
On the 8th August I will be attempting to walk 50+ miles in 36 hours. Why would anyone think this is a good idea? Well at Booth Lifehouse our outdoor space is in need of a face life so I am raising money to provide a purpose built heated outdoor sheltered area to use for groups, as a chill out space and for therapy sessions, outdoor gym equipment, a sheltered area for charging mobility scooters and accessible raised beds so residents can grow fruit, vegetables and flowers. Our famous chickens will also be getting a bigger coop.
There are barriers for people experiencing homelessness accessing outdoor space. There’s some prejudice and they are often moved on from parks, so a lot of our residents don’t feel comfortable sitting in public spaces. Our garden will be a safe space where they can reap the benefits the outdoors has for recovery and mental health.
Booth Lifehouse provides accommodation as well as support and signposting to services helping with addictions, mental health, benefits, debt and employment advice, and housing for up to 35 people.
