Borough Care is proud to share that two members of our team will be taking on the 2026 Manchester Marathon — our CEO Rob and Claire, Management Accountant — and their journey has been inspired by a very special member of our community.

While training for the race, Rob discovered that Brian, a resident at Hen Cloud House in Leek, is something of a marathon legend. Over the years, Brian has completed marathons across the world, including London (in a sub 3 hour time!), Berlin and New York — and remarkably ran his final marathon at the age of 85. Since hearing about Rob’s challenge, Brian has generously shared his experience, offering training advice, race-day tips and plenty of encouragement along the way.

Inspired by Brian’s passion and determination, Rob asked if there was a charity he would recommend supporting. Brian suggested raising money for a cause that helps people in the later stages of life — and both Rob and Claire took Brian's suggestion onboard by choosing to fundraise for Age UK.

Inspired by Brian’s extraordinary achievement of running his final marathon at 85, Rob and Claire will be heading to the start line determined to make him — and the whole Borough Care community proud, and every donation will help support an incredibly worthwhile cause and make a real difference.
