Raising money for Bosom Pals MK to help support men affected by Breast Cancer
Male breast cancer is rare, but it does happen, and too often it’s diagnosed late because many men simply don’t realise they’re at risk.
Typical signs include a lump in the chest, changes to the nipple, or swelling in the area. Because awareness is low, these symptoms are sometimes ignored, which can delay diagnosis and treatment.
After treatment, recovery can be challenging both physically and emotionally. Some men develop swelling (lymphoedema) or fluid build-up following surgery. Without proper compression garments, there’s a real risk of developing a seroma (a build-up of fluid), which can lead to further complications and delay healing.
These garments aren’t just helpful, they’re essential.
Locally, Bosom Pals MK has been supporting people affected by breast cancer for over 30 years. While the charity has predominantly supported women, it is now working to expand its support for men, making sure they feel just as seen, supported, and understood.
The charity provides practical help, emotional support, and a strong sense of community during an incredibly difficult time. Its work has been recognised with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, an achievement that reflects the real difference it makes to people’s lives.
The male goodie bags you’re helping to fund are also incredibly important. Small, thoughtful items can make a big difference during treatment and recovery, helping people feel supported, understood, and less alone.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps raise awareness and ensures men facing breast cancer get the support they need and deserve.
Because male breast cancer is rare, many men feel isolated and alone when they’re diagnosed. Together, we can change that, by raising awareness, offering support, and making sure no one has to go through it alone.
