Boston Cone Tour for Mental Health: Glasgow to Boston · 13 July 2026

Around since 1923, SAMH currently operates over 60 services in communities across Scotland. These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention, sport and physical activity; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.

Story

It started with a bit of fun during the World Cup. We took a traffic cone with BOSTON on it, placed on the Duke of Wellington statue's head in Glasgow to celebrate the twinning of our two cities.

Millions of views later, it's ending with us (Andrew Dobbie and Danny Campbell) flying to Boston with its successor: a hand-illustrated "No Boston No Party" cone, covered in motifs from both cities by Glasgow artist Rob Johnson, already signed by the Chief Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, Stuart Patrick, and heading over to be signed by the Governor of Massachusetts and the Mayor of Boston.

This whole thing has been built on love, joy and the friendship between two cities. So we want to finish it with something real.

The internet can be a divided, angry place. We'd rather fill it with positivity and joy, and do something positive for people's mental health while we're at it.

That's why we're raising money for two charities, one on each side of the Atlantic: SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) here in Scotland, and a Boston mental health charity.

This page is the Scottish half. Every penny donated here goes to SAMH. If you're a UK taxpayer, tick the Gift Aid box and your donation grows by 25% at no cost to you.

You can track the cone's live location at http://www.bostoncone.com as it travels from Scotland to Boston.

We're also fitting it with a contactless chip so people can tap the cone to donate in person. As far as we know, 'the world's first contactless traffic cone'. Nobody has corrected us yet.

Thanks for being part of it.

Scotland Loves Boston.

No Boston, No Party.
